Internet Marketing for Wealth Creation

Lesson 11: Internet Marketing without Website

Selling On-line Without a Website

In the lesson 9, you learnt email marketing and the usage of autoresponders. Using the same techniques, but without a website you can market any product or service.

Using advanced autoresponders

As you learnt earlier, to make your job effective and easy, you need an Advanced Autoresponder and program the messages in the sequence you want to send to the prospects.

Once you have setup the complete sequence of email messages, advertise your autoresponder email id (using online or conventional methods). In your advertisements, ask your prospects to contact the email id. When they contact your autoresponder email id, they will automatically receive an email from you, asking them to confirm their subscription (you just programmed this message)! Once they confirm, they will start receiving the pre-programmed messages in the intervals you defined earlier.

The sales copy you wrote in your emails will do the selling. You just have to reply to their queries (if they contact you) and take the orders and fulfill them.

Using simple autoresponders

If you do not intend to use an advanced autoresponder, you must setup an email id with a good sales letter as autoreply message. You must keep the template messages ready. You must also be prepared to check the messages, several times a day, including holidays.

Once you are ready, you must start advertising with your email id. When a prospect contacts you, the sales copy will be automatically sent to them. As and when they contact you for more information, email them the relevant template message.

As you can see, this will not be as powerful as an advanced autoresponder. You will have to rely on a bulk-mailing software program. Unlike an advanced autoresponder service, there is no guarantee that all your emails will be delivered to the prospects, when you broadcast using bulk-mailing software.

Affiliate Business without Website

In the lesson 7, you learnt how to choose the products, vendor and how to promote them from your website.

If you want to sell affiliate products without a website, you must first master the pay-per-click marketing (including keywords research). You will use pay-per-click marketing to target the prospects and send them to the vendor's website through your unique affiliate link.

Choose a product that converts well: By using the methods explained in lesson 7, you can analyze whether the product has demand and if the vendor's site is capable of converting the visitors into customers. In addition you may check the vendor's conversion rate (number of sales per 100 visitors) at their website.

Most vendors display the statistics at the affiliate signup page. If you can't find it, you may write to them and ask the details. Some vendors do not bother to reply your emails (especially if they have too many affiliates or if they dominate their market). In such occassions, you first have to start promoting the product (by spending your money) and then check your statistics.

Decide your budget: Calculate the maximum amount you should spend, based on the profit per sale, conversion rate and cost per click. For example, if the conversion rate of a site is 2%, your gross profit per sale is $30. Then,

1) Conversion rate is 2%. That means, you will generate 1 sale for every 50 visitors you send.

2) Gross profit is $30 per sale. That means, you must spend less than $30 to effect a sale (or less than 60 cents per visitor).

3) So when you start, you may spend upto 60 cents per visitor and then you must gradually reduce the cost, to increase profit.

4) If you achive 50 visitors at the cost of $10 (20 cents/visitor), you will earn $20 net!

5) Then, if you spend $100 per day, you will earn $200 per day!

When you work on PPC marketing, you need to calculate your budget in terms of cost-per-click. To achive 50 visitors to your (or vendor's) website, you may have to target atleast 65 clicks. This is because, there may be wastage upto 25% due to various reasons. So only 75% of the people who click on your ads will reach the destiny.

That means, to earn $20 net profit, you may spend upto 15 cents per click, i.e. $10 for 67 clicks, which, in turn will fetch 50 visitors. 1 sale will happen @2% conversion and will get you $30 (gross profit)!

Facts about PPC advertising

  • If a vendor says 2% conversion, it does not mean that one sale will happen everytime you send 50 visitors. To see the results you must set a target of minimum 200 visitors (the more the better) per day. i.e. if the conversion rate is 2%, you should be making about 4 sales when you cross 200 visitors.
  • Also note that the 2% conversion is as per the vendors' standards. That is, if you follow the similar set of advertisements they have recommended and if you target and send the same kind of visitors. So, it is possible that you can convert more or less than 2%.
  • For example, if you are promoting a weight loss product your ad must say it clearly. If your ad says "click here for a fantastic health product" every one may click but very few people would be interested in weight reduction.
  • Please be aware that there are some external factors that will affect the results, on which you don't have control over. For example, if your product attracts home users, your ads may convert more during weekends and holidays.
  • Certain products are sold during festive season. During other days of the year the conversion may be less. Certain products (especially gift items) are sold the most during Valentine's Day. Sometimes even a one-day cricket match will affect your sales!
  • As each click is going to cost you money, you need to consistently research for more keywords and keep adding them to your PPC advertising, so that you can keep your cost per click low.
  • You need to be persistent. TEST the ads, OBSERVE the results, LEARN from your mistakes and CORRECT them immediately. Only experience will make you perfect.
  • Advertising Business without Website

Practically, it is not possible to conduct adsense business without a website. However, if you are promoting email newsletter, you can promote advertisements to your subscribers.

    Conclusion

Keep in mind that internet marketing without a website is like a business without shop/office and a phone. Do not expect to build a great online business without a website.
