Find a product that is being heavily sold in the market and analyze the reasons. You will find that the product is being promoted using right emotion. Every product sold across the world has got two basic aspects viz features and benefits. The features are based on the performance and quality of the product. Whereas the benefits are focused on the emotions of the customers. Just try to recollect, when you recently bought a bike or a toothpaste, what was the real reason behind your decision? Was it because the product was technically or scientifically superior to other competitor's products? I bet, you bought it because you saw their ad, in which, they (the seller) triggered your emotions. Either they frightened that by using other brands your teeth would develop cavity or they made you envy the actor in the advertisement. The internet marketing is not different from the conventional marketing. You are going to sell your product (or provide information) to the human beings through your website. Before you create your product, you must know whom you will be selling to. Then you must be aware of the reasons why would they need your product. These 'reasons' are the 'benefits'. List them out and note down the emotions that can be linked to each of the benefits. Usually the following are the (negative) emotions that drive someone to spend money: Angry, Envy, Fear, Greed, Pride and Laziness Once you figure out the emotion(s) that can be linked with the benefits of your product, it will be easy for you to crete the product and/or to promote it on your website.
