The Internet Marketing Guideline for FREE! Learn Internet Marketing, Start Your Own Business, Promote Business Online, and Earn Money

Major ways of earning money online

1. Sell Your Own Products
(a conventional business promoted through internet)

In my opinion, this is by far the best method of doing business. Hence your ultimate aim must be to sell your own product. If you are already involved in a business, just promote it through internet marketing. If not, create a product and promote it online. You be the creator or manufacturer and directly market your products. You are dependant only on your clients. If required, appoint dealers (or affiliates) to promote your products.

If you have no time or willingness to create a product. You still can sell products online. You can strike a deal with others and get their products to sell. Or you may apply your idea and ask someone to create the product for you. For example, if you have an idea to create a software program or website related service, you can find an experienced programmer and get the job done for you.

Advantages: You are the boss. You will take full profit for you. Earnings are usually high (depending upon your product and competion).

Disadvantages: The risk is completely yours. You need to provide support to your customers. You must have the capacity to keep the business running until you start earning.

2. Promote Others' Products
(popularly known as Affiliate Business)

Affiliate business (or affiliate marketing business) is just becoming a dealer for some company (or a product owner) and promote their products or services.

All you need to do is register for an affiliate program and send visitors (prospective buyers) to a special page allotted for you on the seller's website. The seller's website will take care of convincing the visitor, selling, collecting the payment and providing service-after-sales. You will get a percentage on the sale as commission, whenever your visitor buys the product. Usually the amount is paid to the affiliate (i.e. you) once in 15 days or a month.

As there are many more aspects involved, more about this subject will be discussed later.

Advantages: Startup cost is negligible (just a website with certain marketing tools). Earnings are usually high (depending upon your product and competion). You don't have to provide customer support. Hence, no overheads and no expenses. Your profit is your commission minus marketing expense.

Disadvantages: If you expect instant results, you should be ready to spend money for marketing. Though there is no risk as compared to the first option, you have to carefully plan your marketing expenses. If not you will end up spending more than you earn!

3. Sell Advertisement Space On Your Website
(known as Adsense or Advertising Business)

Once you are able to generate high traffic to your website, you can capitalize on it in many ways. You can get others to advertise on your website or on your email newsletter. You can charge them on 'per impression' or 'per click' basis.

For other business owners to consider your site for advertising, your site must have heavy traffic (usually about 1000 visitors per day or more). To generate such a high traffic, you have to work consistently for a long time.

For a beginner it may take a long time to generate huge traffic. In the mean time, there is another way for you to display advertisements on your website. It is widely known as "Adsense Business" or "Google Adsense Business". Google were the pioneers for this concept, so the business is named after them. However, today there are many websites that are similar to Adsense.

You need to create a good website with reasonable amount of content (articles or information). Register with a website like Google Adsense or Bidvertiser. Once they approve you will receive an advertisor code. Then you can incorporate the code to display advertisements on your website. The company will charge the advertisors and pay you certain amount.

Advantages: Like the 2nd option, the start up cost is negligible and you don't have to sell or provide customer support. Your risk is only the time you spend (and the minimum amount of money you invest). If you have patience and consistency, you will (slowly) make millions of dollars over the years to come!

Disadvantages: Unlike the above two options, you cannot spend money on promoting your website, as the returns are lesser. You need to depend on the free methods to promote your website. So the returns are always slow. If you are careless (e.g. not complying with the rules), you may have to restart your business all over again.

4. Other Methods

The above-mentioned three methods are the basic to earn money online. As you gain experience in the business, if you are creative, you will come up with lots of new ideas. You can derive thousands of different ways by combining the above methods.

Whenever you are browsing the internet, check and analyze the online businesses you come across. You will find every business will fall in one or more of the above methods.

Conclusion

A beginner must start the business with Option 3 and incorporate Option 2. Then ultimately, create a product/service and sell it from the same website, i.e. Option 1.

However, if you are already in a business, you must start with Option 1. Once you have succeeded, if you feel necessary, you may incorporate Option 2 and Option 3.
